In an interview with TheStreet.com, Take-Two Interactive CEO Paul Eibeler tells the online publication that the home for the next Grand Theft Auto installment has yet to be determined.
Eibeler told TheStreet that the company is taking a "wait-and-see" attitude to the market and will study it to see whether an exclusive deal will benefit the company.

The Grand Theft Auto franchise is a monster series that has sold over 40 million units worldwide. The last three installments were locked in exclusive agreements to debut on Sony's Playstation 2, helping the company acheive a dominant position in the last video game wars.

Excellent!
GTA is arguably one of the top reasons that the PS2 sold so well the last time round, and Sony doesn't even own the franchise.

This is a very astute move by Take-Two to make the console makers come up with a better deal for them.

Meanwhile, if the 360 sells as well as I think it will, and Sony doesn't release the PS3 in America till close to Christmas next year, then Microsoft has every chance of snatching up the GTA series from within Sony's grasp or at least removing the PS exclusive.

Microsoft doesn't even need exclusive GTA.
All Microsoft needs is for GTA to be released on BOTH consoles at the same time, effectively removing a compelling reason to buy the new PS3, and Microsoft will be quite happy.

I think Sony has been a bit sloppy in their handling of their top selling games on the PS2.
Sony doesn't own GTA.
Nor does Sony own GT, the other top selling game on the PS2.

Meanwhile, Microsoft owns not only Halo, the top selling game on the XBOX by far, but Micfrosoft also owns Forza which is on track to sell a million units rapidly and become one of the top franchises on the XBOX.

Microsoft is effectively in a very strong position as far as their top selling games are concerned.
