I know the US prices of the recent systems are correct. For the rest, I relied on quick web searches. Let us know some more launch prices. I'll add them to this list.
--- *Xbox price dropped in April 2002, one month after Europe/Australia launch. |
| | | | If X360 is £299 at launch, sign me up for one on day 1! |
| | | Pretty sure for Canada:
GameCube - $299 Xbox - $449 PS2 - $449
the only one I am not sure about is Xbox. I know PS2 for sure, since I bought it at launch...actually I even paid a little more ;( but still, that was the price at most places. |

| I think Ps3 might be the only one I skip in all of the new generations since Dreamcast. I have bought DC, PS2, GC, XB, XB360 all on launch day. One of the best things ever was when MS reduced the price of the xbox by £100 in the first two weeks. Thank god they sent me a pad and a game, or else i'd have been super pissed.
Well now with the 360, they have the pricing and the demand at the right level. |

| Xbox 360 Core System is coming to Japan in November 2006 for ¥29,800. Back at the December 2005 launch, only the Premium System was released. |

| | Wow, I forgot how expensive the Sega Saturn was back in 95'. I remember a friend of mine actually got his girl to buy him one for his birthday. Lucky bastard! Couple of reasons I think the Saturn never caught on a little better here: surprise launch without a lot of marketing, hardly any software, and "STEEP" price. Seems like deja-vu all over again, except this time it's Sony. Funny, some people are smart enough to not repeat history... |
| | | 3DO was selling at $699 even back in 1993? No surprise it didn't sell. Poor Trip Hawkins |
