| MacGyver, the thinking handyman's 1985-92 adventure series, will be revived, and retooled, for a next-generation-style WB show called Young MacGyver.
The planned series is being eyed for a 2003 debut, Variety says.
...
Anderson, now of Showtime's Stargate SG-1, is 52, and presumably considered ineligible to star in a show with the word "young" in the title. It's not known if he would play any role in the planned MacGyver revival. In Variety, a WB exec spoke of "a brand-new cast of a characters."

| I think I remember the last episode that McGyver had a son. Suppose it is that young McGyver?
Perhaps he can even make an Xbox2 out of current PC hardware? (AMD, NV30) |

| | Holy.....Holy! Is it my Birthday? Wow.
I loved that series as a kid. I even watch a few when they re-run.
Richard Dean Anderson as the Chief would be cool.
If it were Mac as a kid I'd hope it were on the 'Wishbone' level.
You know PBS for kids. It could have the 'Walt' Disney feel and still be great. |

| Yes, MacGuyver had a son that went by Sam. His full name was Stephen Angus (his father's first name) MacGuyver. The last episode showed the two of them riding off on motorcycles together. If they are going to do a "Young MacGuyver", I don't think it would be the same without Richard Dean Anderson; therefore they should base the show off of Sam. If however, they decide to do the show based on MacGuyver's life before the original show, they need to remember to reference the original show for all of his flashbacks in order to get all the information correct.
Yes, I am a HUGE MacGuyver fan... If they would let me, I would purchase every season on DVD this second, but no... |

| | I know what you mean. I'm a Boy Meets World fan, but it's not on DVD yet.
Yep, MacGuyver would not be the same without Richard Dean Anderson. Most likely, the show will last one season (if even that) and then go bye bye. |

| | Hi Mara,
Welcome to the forum. (y)=(Thumbs up) Very cool that you love this series.
It was a truly awesome. I like how everything thing was just "real enough". For some concoctions they would skip a few simple ingredients in an otherwise very possible reaction.
The part that started to get to me was Murdock. He was just a little excessive. The Moriardi for Sherlock. But the feel between the Chief and Mac was great. During that last season the Chief in reality was going blind. It was cool how they worked with that and at one point even incorporated it into the series.
I don't remember the series as well as you and barely remember what the kid looked like or the mom's story. But share anything to help remind me of the adventure. Hey, Wait? Was his son in the adventure with the Alaskan oil line and the Yeti? I thing I also remember the kid from a scene on the boot and a Potato Powered clock. If you come back by give us a nudge.
Thanks, David_South |
