| Game Sales Charts / Weekly Console Hardware Sales in Japan | | | Author | Message | | | | Strong DS sales. In fact, I think they are stronger than the DS' launch week in Japan. I wonder if Nintendo is having trouble keeping up with demand in Japan |

| December 26, 2005 - January 1, 2006 Nintendo DS - 390,181 PSP - 110,741 PS2 - 78,646 Game Boy Advance SP - 15,998 GameCube - 12,579 X360 - 12,300 Game Boy Micro - 11,234 Game Boy Advance - 447 Xbox - 121
DS is still trashing PSP. |
| | | | I think the PSP sales went bad becouse of lots of returns due to design problems and components used like the dead pixel screen and button problems. The time to fix and maybe redisign the error. |

| | There was no way that sony could challenge the handheld market. Nintendo's mastery over this market was displayed through the NDS which i recall that many ill informed gamers and journalists alke was writing this device off as a failure and out of touch.I'm glad that it shut those fools up. The PSP is still a nifty device though,it just doesn't have the games and originality as the NDS has at the moment. Maybe he fact it's just a mobile PS2 in some respects, has something to do with it as well... |

| January 2 - 8, 2006 PSP - 132,757 Nintendo DS - 91,379 PS2 - 80,886 Game Boy Advance SP - 17,443 GameCube - 13,423 Game Boy Micro - 11,818 X360 - 7,477 Game Boy Advance - 564 Xbox - 156
This is when a Sony Fanboy might say, "Well, the DS reign in Japan was awfully short in the handheld market."
Expect DS to go back to Weekly #1 when supply picks up. |
| | | One has to assume that the lower numbers are due entirely to shortages. The DS's momentum has been steady all along, and good software is continuing to roll out over in Japan.
You'd think with a DS shortage, PSP sales might have spiked a little. I guess its true that no one in Japan cares about the PSP. |

| January 9 - 15, 2006 PSP - 57,686 Nintendo DS - 54,284 PS2 - 39,076 Game Boy Advance SP - 9,982 Game Boy Micro - 6,341 X360 - 6,107 GameCube - 5,465 Game Boy Advance - 233 Xbox - 119
Looks like DS needs another week or two to get back on top. |
| | | | I can't wait until Nintendo restocks DS's in Japan. I'm getting pretty tired of Sony biased sites and articles claiming that the PSP is now going to control the handheld scene in Japan. I guess the DS selling a million units in a month and then having a true shortage aren't real factors to these sites and article authors. The selective ignorance is pretty annoying. |

| I think unless the PSP drops out bad that we wont see the NDS back to the number one spot until March 2, 2006..... Why you ask its because of this http://ds.ign.com/articles/683/683684p1.html
People will wait for it |
